Here’s some good news for those looking for mammoth gaming laptops over on this side of the world. The Samsung Series 7 Gamer, announced barely two weeks ago in Korea with no word on international availability, has made its way to our shores.
One of our forumers over in the Mobile Computing section mentioned that the Series 7 Gamer is now already on sale in Low Yat Plaza, and entries in the Samsung Malaysia website and Facebook page confirm its availability.
Powered by an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7-3610QM with 16GB of 1600MHz RAM, the Full HD 17.3-inch, 3.81kg beast also comes equipped with an NVIDIA GTX675M GPU. Unfortunately this GPU is based on the old Fermi architecture, which is rather disappointing. Besides that, there are four USB ports (two USB 3.0) and a Blu-ray drive. There’s space in there for a subwoofer, too.
Interestingly, it also comes with the old school “desktop-layout” backlit gaming keyboard with 2.7mm keystroke travel. The backlight also changes according to which mode the laptop is running on (Gaming, Balanced, Library, Green).
The Samsung Series 7 Gamer retails at RM5999.
