Update: We’ve just received confirmation that the ZTE Acqua will indeed be the first ZTE device coming to our shores. Read on below for more information on the device.
Ingenuity Solutions Berhad has today released a statement, announcing that it was appointed as the sole local vendor for ZTE mobile devices here in Malaysia. Trading on Ingenuity Solutions’ company shares were temporarily halted in the KLSE today as the announcement was made.
According to the statement submitted to Bursa Malaysia, through Ingenuity Solutions’ joint venture company NineZTE, Ingenuity will act as the sole vendor for ZTE and endowed with the “exclusive right to strategically distribute and market ZTE mobile devices in Malaysia”. Further, Ingenuity’s business partner, Ninetology will provide after sales support and service for ZTE customers here with its network of more than 2400 dealers, 32 service centres and collection centres nationwide.
We’ve not heard of which devices will make its way to our shores, but what we’re hearing is that the Acqua will be the first. We’ll keep you up to date as soon as we hear more.
The Acqua will be primarily aimed at the lower middle-end market, with a 4-inch display and a 1GHz processor. It also has 4GB built-in storage, with support up to 32GB external MicroSD. Finally, it has a 5MP camera with auto-focus. The ZTE Acqua will retail at RM699, though we’re not sure when it will be available.
