We Malaysians love our food, that much is undeniable. But if anyone thinks otherwise, Google Malaysia now has the data to prove them wrong: Malaysians used Google to search for “buffet” during Ramadhan more than any other time of the year.
Using Google’s Insights for Search tool, they found that “buffet” searches increased by 64% from 2009 – 2012 (2012 being partial results). What’s more interesting is that searches for the term “Ramadhan buffet” increased 164% (2012 being partial results) from 2009 – 2012, which confirms our rather gluttonous eating habits.
One last bite (pun well and truly intended) of news from Google Malaysia: when comparing “hotel buffet” and “Ramadhan buffet”, it was revealed that consumer searches for the latter was 2.2 times higher than the former. We may love our food, but it looks like we sure don’t like paying a king’s ransom for them!
