I know what you did on Christmas Day till New Year’s Day, you’ve been downloading apps on your iOS or Android devices haven’t you? According to Flurry, a mobile analytic company, Malaysia is among the top 20 countries that have been downloading apps during the week. From 25 December 2011 up till 31 December 2011, a whopping 1.2 billion apps were downloaded for iOS and Android devices; that’s a 60% increase compared to the average of the first two equivalent weeks of December.
Malaysia just managed to make it to the top 20 countries in terms of downloads with an estimated value of 9 million downloads within that week. Taking the top place is none other than the U.S with 509 million downloads. The second place is China with 99 million downloads followed by the U.K. with 81 million downloads.
The report goes on to predict that 1 billion downloads per week will become more common in 2012. So, did you really spend your last week of 2011 downloading apps? I must say, I think I contributed to about 10 of those 9 million apps download in Malaysia thanks to the12 Days of Christmas promotion; you won’t get to download that particular app, but the free apps offered are free for download anyway.
