Good news for residents in Ipoh, Melaka and Penang, Google has just announced that Live Traffic on Google Maps is available for you. Google launched Traffic and Transit for Google Maps in Malaysia earlier this year and now, the team is expanding its live traffic service beyond Klang Valley and is available immediately for those who reside in Ipoh, Melaka and Penang.
To access live traffic updates, visit maps.google.com.my on your desktop or mobile device, or open Google Maps app on your Android device. You need to enable the Traffic layer and once that’s done, you’ll be able to see the live traffic that is highlighted using colors – green means that the traffic is smooth and users are travelling over 80km/h, yellow indicates slow moving traffic between 40 to 80km/h. Red means that the traffic is very slow with users travelling below 40km/h while black with red dots indicates that traffic is at a near standstill.
Of course, while the feature is available for your area, do note that live traffic is dependent on users so if there are not enough information for a particular area, there will be no traffic information. Find out more about Google Maps with Live Traffic in this link.
