While many are still waiting for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for their Android devices – and, indeed, many more still stuck on Android 2.3 – Google has not been resting on its laurels and are already testing out their latest iteration of the Android OS.
While a dessert code name has not been leaked yet (Pocket Lint thinks it might well be “Key Lime Pie”), Google Analytics data has shown that a number of devices running on Android 4.2, from a variety of price points – suggesting that we could be seeing updates for some legacy devices with older hardware.
Among the devices purportedly running on the latest Android OS are big hitters such as the Google Nexus 7 tablet and Samsung Galaxy Nexus – both flagship Android devices – as well as the Sony Xperia Arc S and, interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Y.
Even more intriguing is the fact that the data shows that these devices have been visiting its site since August, which might mean that it is in advanced stages of testing by now.
Regardless, it is still good news for Android users and especially those of legacy devices.
