If you have been a long-time fan of Motorola and are expecting to see its future devices to be officially released here…well, it’s hard for us to say this to you but you might have to let go of that dream. Apparently, Motorola Mobility – who is responsible for Motorola’s consumer mobile phones – has shut down a number of regional websites including Asia’s.
As our country belongs under Asia region, we paid a visit to Malaysia’s official website via its URL – www.motorola.com/my – and true enough, we encountered the message above. That being said, we didn’t actually received the message right away though.
We were initially welcomed by this familiar looking page but upon clicking on the “Enter Here” button, a similar looking page but with reduced amount of links will then loads. Once we clicked on the “Enter Here” button on this particular page, only then the closure message appears.
With this, we take as a major indicator that Motorola will no longer release any new mobile phones in Malaysia at least for the time being. Frankly speaking, it didn’t surprise us though since Google already announced early on that the search engine giant intended to revamp Motorola from inside out right after acquiring the long-running mobile phone manufacturer for RM 38.19 billion (USD 12.5 billion).
Well Motorola… it was good while it lasted.
