While many football team manager all the world have to go through a long and winding road to be where they are right now, this lad’s route somehow is slightly different. Born in Azerbaijan and based in Sweden, the 21-years old Vugar Huseynzade was recently hired as the manager of the Azerbaijani Premier League club FK Baku‘s ‘A’ team due to…wait for it…his experience in the popular Football Manager game series by Sports Interactive and Sega.
Of course, Vugar Huseynzade is also a business management degree holder from Boston University and has worked in a sports agency previously. However, as far as football management concerns, it was mainly from his experience from playing the globally acclaimed football management game series since 2002.
That being said, Vugar was not hired to the post directly from in front of his computer since he has been together with the team since earlier this year as an advisor according to the team’s official website. Nevertheless, it is still amazing that he managed to land the job by his experience in a video game.
Now, hold your horses. Don’t start sending your resume to Football Association of Malaysia with all your Football Manager achievements just yet.
We doubt it would work over here…
