It has come to our attention that HP might have released a number of laptops that are equipped with the newly announced 7th generation Intel Core processors into our market. Unlike Dell though, these laptops have yet to appear on HP Malaysia’s online store which requires us to dig slightly further in order to learn more about them.
Listed as HP 14-am101tx, HP 14-am102tx and HP 14-am103tx, we first noticed these laptops after they showed up on TechHypermart’s online store. Despite having three different model names, the only major difference between them is their colors with 101tx being black while the 102tx and 103tx are draped in silver and red respectively.
Equipped with 14-inch HD (1366 x 768) display, these laptops also feature the new 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-7200U as well as 4GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB hard drive. The AMD Radeon R5 M130 graphics card shown on the listing is actually a mistake though since there is no such thing as Radeon R5 M100 series and the laptop’s full specifications that are available through Google Search result cache stated that it actually carries Radeon R5 M430 with 2GB DDR3 VRAM.
According to TechHypermart, these HP 14 laptops with 7th gen Intel Core processor have a regular price tag of RM 1,999 although the store is offering it at a slightly lowered price. A quick search online also showed that these laptops can also be obtained through various retailers on popular local e-commerce platforms such as 11street, Lazada, and Lelong.
Meanwhile, we have also spotted another laptop with 7th gen Intel Core processor from HP under the model name HP 15-ay103tx. However, the laptop is somehow available from only one particular seller on Lazada for RM 2,199 (before discount) and based on its listing, this particular HP 15 laptop has the same specs as per HP 14 laptops that we mentioned earlier with the exception of its 15.6-inch screen size.
Given the circumstances, the listing might seem quite odd but then again, we have noticed that the laptop’s model number has been referenced on Microsoft Office and McAfee listings at HP Malaysia’s online store which gives it some dose of legitimacy. Nevertheless, we are now reaching out to HP Malaysia in order to see if we able to obtain more details regarding the company’s plan to roll out 7th gen Intel Core laptops into our market.
