In November 2014, HP returns to gaming market once again by launching the Omen gaming laptop which was then released into Malaysia shortly after that. This year, HP has decided to turn Omen into its own series by launching new Omen gaming laptops, desktop PC, and monitor.
Coming to market this July, the new Omen gaming laptops will be made available in two screen sizes: 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch, both with resolutions of up to 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160). In terms of processing power, both variants can be obtained with up to 2.6GHz Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor although the 15.6-inch does come with Intel Core i3-6100H option.
Other than that, both variants are able to support up to 16GB DDR4 RAM alongside 512GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 solid state drive and 2TB 5,400 rpm hard drive. Hybrid hard drive which features 1TB of storage and 8GB flash storage for cache purposes is also available for the 17.3-inch model. Graphics-wise, consumers can choose to fit their new Omen laptops with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M (N16E-GR) and 4GB of VRAM.
At the same time, the 15.6-inch model can be obtained with GeForce GTX 950M as well. Interestingly, select Omen gaming laptops also comes with HP Fast Charge that allows them to be charged up to 90% within 90 minutes given that the systems are charged when they are not turned on.
As for the new Omen desktop PC, the specifications are certainly much more powerful with up to Intel Core i7-6700K, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB solid state drive, and 3TB hard disk drive. Customers also have the choice of up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition or AMD Radeon R9 390X as well as optional liquid cooling setup.
Last but not least, there’s also the new 32-inch Omen display although not much information regarding it was revealed by HP in its announcement today. We do know that it has Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution, 100% sRGB colour space, and the support for AMD FreeSync.
In terms of pricing, the new HP Omen gaming laptops comes with a starting price of USD 899.99 (about RM 3,671) for the 15.6-inch model and USD 979.99 (about RM 4,000) for 17.3-inch variants. The Omen gaming desktop PC which will be released slightly later in August starts at USD 999.99 (about RM 4,082) while the 32-inch Omen gaming monitor will also be heading to stores in August but has not been priced just yet.
