Launched just two weeks ago, the honor V8 is the company’s highest-end device yet; it is also the first device from honor with a 2K display. However, from what we were told recently, there is no plan to bring in the honor V8 to Malaysia.
We got this information from a Huawei representative, which told us that the availability of the honor V8 in Malaysia has been discussed internally. Unfortunately, he confirmed with us that it is almost a sure thing the honor V8 won’t be officially available here; he elaborated that the V8 is meant for the Chinese market only.
Interestingly enough, we were also told that the honor V8 isn’t the true successor to the honor 7. In that sense, there is a chance the honor 8 will be coming into Malaysia. After all, previous honor flagship smartphones such as the honor 6 Plus and honor 6 were officially launched here. Then again, it still remains to be seen if there will in fact be an honor 8.
But it’s not all bad news; we also received a good news from the Huawei representative: the Huawei P9 Plus will be available in Malaysia very soon. A quick search on SIRIM revealed that the device has already been registered with the certification body. Expect more information sometime next month in June.
