While we already aware that Malaysian telcos are testing this particular feature thanks to a revelation by Ericsson Malaysia last year, it looks like one of them is finally ready to bring Wi-Fi Calling to the market. That said telco is U Mobile, as the company has confirmed via a media invite that it will be launching the new feature next week.
Taking place on 26 May, it goes without saying that details regarding the new feature is still under wraps at the moment. While we don’t have any early information either, we will not be surprised if the Wi-Fi Calling feature will be offered as yet another value add-on benefit to U Mobile customers just like its newly launched Video-Onz feature.
Before you get excited about the arrival of this new feature, do note that your smartphone must be able to support the function in the first place. For that, do check with your phone manufacturer for confirmation.
