It goes without saying that Malaysians really love Facebook. According to its Vice President of Asia Pacific, Dan Neary, 18 million Malaysians utilized the social network every month – a significant number that surely didn’t go unnoticed by the company.
Hence, it is not surprising that Facebook has decided to open a branch office here in Malaysia. Prior to Malaysia, Facebook already maintained a network of offices in South East Asia including Singapore which serves as its Asia Pacific headquarters as well as Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines.
Before you get too excited though, don’t expect Facebook Malaysia’s operations to be as big or as vast as the company’s Menlo Park headquarters. Judging from the brief announcement by Dan, Facebook Malaysia’s role is more skewed towards helping businesses reaching out to their audiences on the popular social network.
That being said though, we believe more information regarding Facebook’s spanking new office and operations in Malaysia will be revealed at its media session tomorrow. So, stay tuned.
