For those of you who wish to get a new phone, but do not wish to sign up for a contract, our local telcos offers contract-free prepaid bundles, which comes with discounts, as well as free internet.
Maxis #Hotlink
Hotlink is currently offering three devices for its prepaid bundle – Lenovo A319, Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30, and Samsung Galaxy Ace Style. Along with selling the devices at a discounted price, the bundle also comes with a free #Hotlink SIM pack, and 3GB of free internet (500MB x 6 months).
Do note that in order to receive the free 500MB of internet each month for the first six months, you will need to keep the line active, and perform at least one call during the month. You must use the device at all time to receive the free data, which is only valid for 14 days from the day of provisioning. After that, you can continue to browse the internet for free, but at a throttled speed of 64kbps, or you can purchase additional mobile internet for high speed connection.
Celcom Xpax
As for Xpax, the telco is offering quite a number of smartphones for its Xpax Magic SIM bundle – Alcatel Pop D3, Pop C9, ZTE BladeV815, ZTE Blade L3 and ZTE Blade S6 lite.
Add RM99 to the phone price, and you will get an Xpax Magic SIM pack, as well as 500MB of free internet for 12 months. The 500MB of data is valid for 30 days from the date of registration, followed by a 30 day cycle to refresh, and as always, you must keep the line active in order to receive your free internet. You will still get to enjoy the regular Xpax Magic SIM benefits like reload bonus and more.
Digi Prepaid
Digi is also offering selected smartphones and tablet with its prepaid bundle – ZTE Blade Q1, Alcatel PiXi 3 (4.5), and Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30. The telco is also offering these devices at a discounted price, along with free 500MB of internet for 6 months.
You will need to keep the line active to get the free 500MB of internet for the first 6 months. Do note that you will need to subscribe to the free 6 months of internet, simply dial *120*<key in the 16 digits pin>*1# on your mobile phone. Sadly though, this is part of Digi’s on-going roadshow, which will end on 15 July 2015. Not all devices will be available, so do check out Digi’s participating stores for more information.
If you would like to sign up for other prepaid telcos, Tune Talk is now offering selected Samsung smartphones like the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, and while they offer these devices at retail price, their bundle comes with free airtime credits up to RM500, which is not that bad.
