While the recent launch of Champiro SX2 Ultra High Performance Tires is GT Radial’s first ever launch event in the country, the brand is not actually new in Malaysia since it already in the market since 1998. In fact, GT Radial was chosen as OEM supplier by Proton in 2012 for Proton Exora Bold and Proton Preve.
Developed 2 years ago, the new GT Radial Champiro SX2 tires are designed to provide high level of traction together with responsive steering, handling and driving control in both wet and dry conditions. Even though they are made for sports and performance-oriented drivers as well as motorsport racing, Champiro SX2 tyres are still street legal since they are not considered as semi-slick which made them fit for daily driving.
The Indonesian-based PT Gajah Tunggal (the company behind GT Radial) claims that such characteristics are made possible due to a number of key features that they have implemented into Champiro SX2 tires such as the combination of dual block and wide shoulder design in addition to the wide center rip and three wide circumferential grooves. The GT Radial Champiro SX2 tires also feature gradient step design to help improve ride comfort and reduce heat generation.
Currently available in six different sizes with seven more sizes coming to the market by end of this year or early 2014, the price of GT Radial Champiro SX2 tyres starts from RM 350 onwards.
